    Overall fine, but

    I think I just got a bit unlucky. My fermentation kit has a tiny leak at the valve that I didn’t catch until after I’d filled the fermenter. It was leaking at about a drop per minute. I ended up using a makeshift plug to get through the first brew. I’ll take a closer look at the valve before the next round.
    Heads-up for future users: It’s a good idea to test the valve for leaks with water before starting your first brew.
