Reduces the freezing point of water in glycol chillers.

Propylene Glycol (PG) USP is a high-purity, pharmaceutical-grade mono-propylene glycol with a purity greater than 99.9%, making it ideal for a wide range of food-grade, beverage, and industrial applications. This versatile glycol is a key component in temperature control systems, providing efficient heat transfer, freezing point depression, and boil point elevation in various cooling and heating setups.

In brewing and beverage operations, Propylene Glycol is mainly used with glycol chillers, but can also be used in draught dispensing systems, and jacketed fermenters. When mixed with water, it allows the cooling fluid to reach sub-zero temperatures, delivering ice-cold beer, frosty taps, and precise fermentation temperature control.

Propylene Glycol is also widely used across other industries, including food manufacturing, milk and wine production, cosmetics, vacuum (VAC) applications, and laser cutting systems. In secondary loop systems, it protects equipment from freezing, bursting, or boiling, making it an indispensable heat transfer fluid where standard water alone cannot operate effectively.

Emergency & Safety Information

  • Use only in well-ventilated areas.
  • Protective gloves, clothing, and safety eyewear are recommended.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Keep away from sources of ignition.
  • Avoid contact with eyes.
  • Take precautions against static discharge.

Warning: This material may be harmful if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin.

Precautions:

  • Store in the original, tightly sealed container away from food, heat, and direct sunlight.
  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling.
  • Wear impervious gloves and eye protection.
  • Wash hands and face before eating and after work.
  • Dispose of empty containers safely.
  • Use only in areas with adequate ventilation.
  • Keep containers secure and check seals regularly for leaks or spills.
  • Do not store in pits or basements where vapours may accumulate.
  • Highly flammable. Clear liquid. Miscible with water.

Spill Response:

  • Remove all ignition sources and keep people away.
  • Recover free liquid and add absorbents to the spill area.
  • Avoid breathing vapors and ventilate enclosed spaces.
  • Keep petroleum products out of drains, streams, and waterways.
  • Consult experts for proper spill removal and follow local disposal regulations.

First Aid:

  • If swallowed: Do NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water and contact a doctor or poison information centre immediately.
  • If on skin: Remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly.
  • If in eyes: Hold eyelids open and rinse with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
  • If inhaled: Move to fresh air and seek medical advice if symptoms persist.
