Oxebar 4L PET Keg with PCO38 Cap and Handle

Store oxygen sensitive beverages fresh for up to 6 months in these cheap, lightweight PET Monolayer mini kegs.

These lightweight PET mini kegs are a great budget friendly option for getting started with kegging, or, upgrading your keg system for an inexpensive and portable draught system option. These mini kegs are manufactured using a PET polymer blend which lowers gas permeability through the PET. When using traditional PET vessels you will notice beers tend to deteriorate in relatively short periods of time as oxygen that diffuses into the keg directly damages flavour compounds in the beer while also forming reactive oxygen species that, to a larger degree rapidly damage these same flavour compounds

The PET polymer these kegs are manufactured from slows the rate of diffusion and resultantly slows the rate of damage to the beverage stored within it. When compared to standard PET vessels oxebar monolayer kegs will extend the products shelf life by 3x while keeping the beer fresher, for longer.

This product is sold with the PCO38 cap however if you would like to dispense this product through a draft system we recommend the use of the PCO38 Tapping Head (KL20169).  The tapping head is sold separately and allows you to attach standard ball lock disconnects and includes a Red PRV as to not exceed the maximum working pressure.

It's important to also highlight some of the detriments to using PET for beverage storage. PET in general will have a shorter working life than their stainless steel counterparts and must not exceed the listed maximum working temperature and pressure of 4 Bar (58 psi) or 45°C. Hydrotesting:

All pressure vessels should be hydrotested periodically. We recommend that this container be pressure tested every 2 years up to 6 bar.  The instructions for this are:
1. Remove Red PRV and fit a Grey PRV (you can borrow one of these from a 19L keg.
2. Fill keg to the absolute brim with water.  DO NOT forget this step.
3. Use bike pump, CO2 regulator, air compressor or any other pressure source to pressurize the keg to 6 bar. 
4. Hold the keg at 6 bar for 1 minute
5. Release the pressure and immediately remove GREY prv and swap back to RED prv.
Note: This test should be done with the keg and water in the keg at room temperature 15-30C
