Used as a wine and cider preservative or to kill off wild yeast and bacteria from fruit.
One of the most common preservative agents in the winemaking industry. Metabisulphite is used in a range of applications that include; the preservation of wine and other fermented beverages, stopping oxidation by acting as an antioxidant, sanitation of corks, must and juice, dechlorination of water, halting fermentation prematurely and more.
1g of potassium metabisulphite releases approximately 0.56g of sulphur dioxide.
Dosage:
To sanitise fruit must and juice: 1-3g per 10kg of fruit. Dissolve in a small amount of water prior to adding.
Racking: 1g per 10L of juice. Dissolve in a small amount of water prior to adding.
