For Czech pilsners, this tap uses a ball valve instead of a shuttle, giving you more control over the head of your beer.

The Martinus Tap has been designed specifically as a side pour tap to provide the perfect pour for your Czech Pilsners and dark nitro beers. Its unique design offers the ultimate control over your beer flow rate allowing you to serve a nice creamy head of the most refreshing of pilsners. Designed primarily for serving Czech pilsners, this uniquely styled draft tap includes a ball valve handle that is pulled to dispense beer, along with a spout that is inserted into the glass for filling.

When only opening the tap slightly you produce a rich, moist foam, whereas fully opening the tap delivers a standard flow of beer and minimal head. If you use the Martinus tap with the Czech Pilsner Nozzle an internal micro screen within the tap aerates the beer in a manner akin to that of a nitro tap.

This tap is compatible with our full range of fonts and shanks as well as our full range of tap handles. Only UltraTap nozzles and accessories are compatible with this tap.

How to use Martinus to pour Czech Pilsners?

There are three distinct pouring styles for Pilsner Urquell and other Czech Pilsners. The Hladinka method is the conventional approach, resulting in a mug that is half filled with beer and half filled with foam, approximately three fingers high. This technique achieves a harmonious balance between the beer's bitterness and sweetness.

The Šnyt style involves a smaller serving of beer in a larger glass, comprising two parts beer, three parts foam, and one part empty space. This refreshing and lighter pour allows for greater enjoyment of additional beer or food during a gathering.

Lastly, the Mlíko style features a mug brimming with sweet and creamy foam, which accentuates the hops and aromatic qualities of the beer. This style is traditionally savoured as a dessert beer.
