Ginger Powder
Add a warm lingering zinc and fresh pop to your gins or boost the ginger kick of your next ginger beer!
Ginger is a family modern gin botanical. When used as a gin botanical ginger adds a fresh zing and a lingering warmth. Ginger is a potent botanical and can quickly become overpowering when used in large quantities. When used with other fresh citrus herbs or floral botanicals ginger can be a great addition to bring together your gin and make a delicious fresh flavoured gin.Â
Ginger powder can also be used to add more character to ginger beers and bring forward more of the ginger spice apparent in ginger beers such as the royal Jamaican ginger beer. When using ginger in ginger beers we recommend lightly boiling the ginger powder along with any other herbs or botanicals to sanitise them then add to your fermenter at the same time as any sugars of malt extracts used in your particular recipe.
Dosage:
Ginger can be quiet overpowering if used in high doses in gins. To add a mild balanced flavour use 0.2 - 3 grams per litre. We recommend startling lower and titrating up if the flavour is not pronounced enough.
When using ginger in ginger beers or cider start with 50g of ginger powder in 20 litres. If you would like more of a ginger flavour then increase the dosage to your liking.
Storage:
Our ginger powder is packed into resealable foil bags to eliminate UV damage, ensure they are kept sealed and so you can reseal these bags after opening. We recommend refrigerating after opening and using the within two years of opening. Try to keep these out of a moist environment too.
