Kettle fining made from Irish moss and purified Carrageenan. Whirlfloc tablets help to precipitate protein and beta glucans, both of which contribute to haze in beer.
Add 10-15 minutes before the end of the boil.
Add to beers where clarity is desired, precipitation of proteins can also be aided by a vigorous boil (hot break) and rapid chilling (cold break)
1 Tablet per 19L - 30L batch added 10-15 minutes before the end of the boil.
In hazy beers such as NEIPA, Witbier and Hazy IPA we don't recommend using a Whirlfloc tablet as It makes proteins insoluble and lowers the amount of protein-yeast interactions that can help produce a nice hazy finish and soft mouthfeel, although this is a controversial topic.
