A versatile hop that offers a blend of ripe tropical fruit notes, along with a superb finish and bitterness profile.

Breeding:

Kohatu® Hop Pellets are a triple-aroma variety created by crossing a Hallertau Mittlefruh with a New Zealand Male, and have North American and European ancestry. Developed by the New Zealand Plant and Food Research hop breeding program in 2011.

Selection:

Experts have recognized Kohatu® for its strong, vibrant tropical fruit flavor during evaluations, leading researchers to take notice.

Brewing:

Initial brewing trials revealed the exceptional versatility of Kohatu® Hop Pellets, with impressive and consistent flavor and aroma profiles. The fruity notes identified during sensory evaluations carried over to the finished product, providing a very satisfying experience. Notably, the standout quality of these pellets is their consistent and high-quality bitterness which makes them perfect for both flavor and aroma purposes.

Applications:

Works really well in single hop applications to show case its fruity aroma characters balanced by the extraordinary quality of bitterness.  Higher addition rates can really pack a fruit driven punch in bigger beer styles. This would be the perfect hop for a NZ pilsner!
