Rice Hulls
Stop stuck mashes or long sparge times.
Rice hulls are protective shell of rice grains that protect them. The hulls are removed during the production of rice for use in the food industry. When Rice Hulls are added to a grain bill they decrease the viscosity of the mash and allow wort to flow through the grain bed faster. This increased loitering capacity makes all grain brew days faster and also helps to minimise or eliminate stuck mashes or stuck sparges.
Dosage:
Add 1 or 2 handfuls per 23L batch or until mash is thin enough to allow drainage.
We typically don't use rice hulls unless we are doing wheat beers or rogenbeers.
