Medium scale fruit press for extracting juice from fruit pulp.

This fruit press is designed for small scale vintners and cider-makers producing 10-60L quantities of wine or cider. This sturdy design allows you to press up to 15kg of fruit at a time and utilises a leverage advantage to press crushed fruits and extract large volumes of juice from the pulp.

Unlike regular juicers, a fruit press ensures that the core of fruits like grapes stays intact, preventing bitterness in the juice, making it ideal for winemaking in particular.

This unit does not come pre-assembled and some assembly is required.

Important Usage Notes:

  • Pre-processing Fruits: Whole fruits cannot be pressed directly. Apples, pears, and other hard fruits must first be cut into smaller pieces or mashed before pressing for optimal juice extraction. Using a suitable mill for grinding these fruits will improve results, increase extraction efficiency and minimise risk of damaging the press.
  • Fruit Selection: Healthy, ripe fruits are ideal, while immature, overripe, or rotten fruits should be discarded. Ensure the fruits are clean and free of any dirt or mildew before pressing. This unit is not suitable for pressing hard or unripe fruits.
  • Juicing Technique: For hard fruits like apples and pears, grinding them into a pasty consistency yields a higher juice output. Softer fruits such as grapes, raspberries, and currants don’t require grinding, as their soft flesh is easily pressed without crushing the cores, which could cause bitterness. We would still recommend precrushing soft fruits to open them up.
  • Filter Bag Use: When pressing fruits, it is recommended to cover them with a filter bag to capture pulp and maximise juice clarity. If processing finely ground fruit products we would recommend using our Large Reinforced BIAB with webbing straps instead of the standard filter bag pictured.
